The Wilmington University baseball team moved their record to 9-5 with a 10-8 victory over the American International College Yellow Jackets.

Wilmington University leads by four runs at the end of the second inning.
WilmU would be the first team to get on the scoreboard in this one, as freshman outfielder D’Angelo Ponce would knock a two-run double down the third base line on the seventh play of the bottom of the first inning to give his team a 2-0 lead.
The Wildcats would continue to put some cushion in the lead in the bottom of the second, as junior outfielder Cam Trego would hit a two-run bomb to right field to push his team’s edge to 4-0.
WilmU leads by two runs at the end of the fourth inning.
American International would finally get on the board in the top of the fourth inning when the team scored three runs on three hits to cut the deficit to 4-3.
Chad Lavelle and Brendan Edvardsen would knock in the runs for their team, as Lavelle had a two-run triple to right center and Edvardsen had an RBI single to left field.
Wilmington would widen their lead a little bit in the bottom of the fourth when Freshman outfielder Brandon Grygo scored on a wild pitch to take the score to 5-3.
The Wildcats lead by seven runs at the end of the fifth inning.
WilmU’s lineup would have a big inning in the fifth, as they scored five runs on three hits and an error to take a 10-3 advantage.
Brandon Grygo would get the scoring started in the inning by hitting a three-run homer to right center to give his team an 8-3 lead.
Three plays later, junior outfielder AJ Tropiano would hit a two-run single to left field to push the Wildcats edge to 10-3.
Wilmington University takes home a 10-8 victory!
The Yellow Jackets would storm back in the top of the eighth inning, where the team scored five runs on one hit and an error to slice the lead to 10-8.
Walks would play a key part in this inning, as three runs came from them.
That would be the last time American International scored, as WilmU would hang on to win 10-8.
Pitching Recap:
Freshman starting pitcher Chase Fleming pitched three innings, gave up one hit, and three walks, and struck out three batters.
The bullpen, which consisted of eight pitchers, would combine to give up six hits, eight runs, seven earned runs, eight walks, and struck out eight strikeouts.
Graduate student pitcher Derek Huff earned the win, as he pitched one inning and struck out one batter.
Senior pitcher Dom Grady would earn the save as he closed out the game by pitching one inning and striking out one batter.
