The University of Delaware men’s basketball team demolished the Hampton University Pirates in the CAA Championship Second Round on Saturday with an 80-50 win. UD will now face Hofstra on Sunday at 8:30 p.m ET.
Graduate Student guard Gerald Drumgoole Jr. led the team in scoring in the win with 17 points.
Two other Hens players who scored in double-digits were fifth-year guard Jalun Trent (12), and Cavan Reilly (14).
Delaware had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included points off of turnovers (11-10), rebounds (47-36), bench points (27-21), points in the paint (36-8), fast-break points (18-5), and assists (13-5).
UD also had the advantage in shooting, with the team shooting 48.3 % (28-58) and Hampton shooting 23.4%(15-64). The Blue Hens also bested the Pirates from the three-point line, with the team shooting 42.9%(9-21) and Hampton shooting 19.4(6-31).
