The Goldey-Beacom College women’s basketball team pulled off a spectacular upset of the Post University Eagles in the quarterfinals of the CACC tournament with a 68-64 victory. The Lightning will now face Chestnut Hill in the Semifinals on March 9th.
Senior forward Janiya Stevens would lead the team in scoring with 16 points.
Four other Goldey-Beacom players who scored in double digits in the win were junior forward Azuri Abraham (11), junior guard Julie McCarron (11), freshman guard Katie Yoder (11), and freshman guard Farrah White (10).
Sophomore guard Rory Ciszkowski was locked on the boards all night, as she collected 11 rebounds.
The Lightning had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included points in the paint (34-30), and rebounds (44-34).
Goldey-Beacom also had the advantage in shooting, with the team shooting 46.2%(24-52) and Post shooting 34.8%(24-69). GBC also bested the Eagles from the three-point line, with the team shooting 29.4%(5-17) and Post shooting 21.7%(5-23). The Lightning was also the better team at the free-throw line in this game, as the team shot 71.4%(15-21), and the Eagles shot 61.1%(11-18).
