Wilson scores 21 points in Delaware State’s overtime 75-64 victory over North Carolina Central

Delaware State leads by two points after one-quarter of play.

DSU would go back and forth with North Carolina Central for most of the opening quarter, as the team would head into the second with a 16-14 edge. Denijsha Wilson would serve up the highlights during this time, as she scored six of the team’s 16 points.

The Hornets would come out buzzing in the early minutes of the second quarter, where the team went on a 13-2 run to grab a 29-16 advantage.

Despite getting outscored 9-4 for the rest of the second quarter, Delaware State would hold a 33-25 lead at halftime.

Delaware State leads slip away as NC Central forces overtime.

The intensity of the game would amp up in the fourth quarter, as the lead would bounce back and forth for the next six minutes and 82 seconds. 

North Carolina Central’s Janiah Jones would hit the last bucket during that time, as she sunk a three-pointer to give her team a 59-57 edge with 3:18 remaining in the game.

Fast forward to the 21-second minute mark, where Ja’Naiah Perkins-Jackson would make a layup to give DSU a 61-60 lead.

Nine seconds later, the Eagles Morgan Callahan would make one of her two free throw shots to push the game into overtime with a score of 61.

DSU takes home a 75-64 overtime victory!

The Hornets would come out swinging in the overtime period, as the team went on a 14-3 run to seal a 75-64 win over NC Central. Ja’Naiah Perkins-Jackson had the hot touch during this stretch, as she scored nine of the team’s 14 points.
