The Wilmington University baseball team earned their third win of the season on Sunday with a 10-3 victory over the College of Staten Island Dolphins.

Wilmington University takes a two-run lead after the first inning.
The Wildcats would get on the board first in this game, as senior second baseman Erik Grady and senior outfielder CJ Deery would score on a throwing error in the first inning to give their team a 2-0 lead.
WilmU trails by one run after the second inning.
Staten Island’s lineup would wake up in the bottom of the second inning, where they scored three runs on four hits to take a 3-2 edge. The highlight of the second for the Dolphins was when Bryan Birkhead hit a two-run single to give his team a one-run lead.
The Wildcats lead by two runs after the eighth inning.
From the third inning to the seventh inning, the two teams’ pitching staffs would be confusing opposing hitters as they combined to give up only one hit during that time.
That would all change in the top of the eighth inning when Wilmington scored three runs on three hits to grab a 5-3 advantage.
Erik Grady would push in the first run of the inning as he hit an RBI single to center field to tie the game at three.
Senior catcher Jack McDonald would step up to the plate next and blasted a two-run homer to left field to give WilmU a 5-3 lead.

The Wildcats would not be done scoring just yet, as the team would add five more runs in the top of the ninth inning on five hits to seal a 10-3 victory.
Erik Grady would continue to have a hot bat as he would score the first two runs of the inning with a two-RBI double to right center to extend his team’s edge to 7-3.
Jack McDonald would follow up Grady’s score with an RBI sacrifice fly to push the Cats’ lead to 8-3.
Three plays later, junior outfielder Shawn Edevane would hit a two-run RBI single to right field to seal a 10-3 victory over the Dolphins.

The WilmU offense wasn’t their only unit on fire in this matchup, as the pitching staff would keep the Staten Island hitters off their game all day.
Sophomore starting pitcher Scott Borgmann would get a little roughed up in this game, as he went five innings and gave up four hits, three runs, three earned runs, five walks, and two strikeouts.
But his relievers would come through for him, as the four pitchers combined to give up two walks and a strikeout. Freshman pitcher Brandon Grygo would get the victory to his name.
