The Goldey-Beacom College men’s basketball team earned their 15th win of the season on Tuesday with an 81-74 victory over the Chestnut Hill College Griffins.
Sophomore forward Zayon Marsh led the team in scoring in the win with 20 points. Marsh also recorded a double-double in the victory, collecting 13 rebounds with his 20 points.
Four other Goldey-Beacom players who scored in double digits in the win were senior guard Damani Thomas (14), senior guard Ayshion Centeno (13), senior guard Nazim Derry (11), and sophomore guard Omari Banks (11).
The Lightning had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included points in the paint (34-30), points off of turnovers (12-11), fast-break points (6-4), and rebounds (38-36).
Goldey-Beacom also had the advantage in shooting, with the team shooting 49.0 %(25-51) and Chestnut Hill shooting 38.6 %( 27-70). GBC also bested the Griffins from the three-point line, with the team shooting 37.5 %(6-16) and Chestnut Hill shooting 34.6 %(9-26). The Lightning was also the better team at the free-throw line in this game, as the team shot 80.6 %(25-31), and the Griffins shot 73.3%( 11-15).
