Deywilk Tavarez scores 22 points in Delaware State’s 66-56 victory over Coppin State

Delaware State trails by five at the end of the first half. 

The game would start with the Hornets taking a 7-3 lead with 18:13 remaining in the opening half. Deywilk Tavarez did work on both ends during this stretch, as he had two rebounds and five points.

Fast forward to the 7:43 minute mark, where Coppin State’s Malik Battle drained a three-pointer to give his team a 25-21 edge.

The Eagles Justin Winston would help his team keep the lead at the end of the first half as he scored six of their ten points to push Coppin State’s advantage to 35-30.

The Hornets take home a 66-56 victory!

DSU would come out in the early minutes of the second half with renewed energy, as the team went on a 10-4 run to take a 40-39 edge with 15:58 left in the game.

Delaware State’s defense stepped up during that time, as the unit had three defensive rebounds, a steal, and a block. The Hornets also moved the ball around during that stretch, as the group had three assists.

DSU would continue to pour on the points for the rest of the second half, as they outscored the Eagles 26-16 to seal a 66-56 victory.
