Deywilk Tavarez scores 22 points in Delaware State’s 66-56 victory over Coppin State

The Delaware State University men’s basketball team earned their 11th win of the season on Saturday with a 66-56 victory over the Coppin State University Eagles.

Freshman guard Deywilk Tavarez led the team in scoring with 22 points.

Two other DSU players who scored in double-digits were sophomore guard Jevin Muniz (12), and junior forward Wesley Oba (14).

Delaware State had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included points in the paint (30-20), second-chance points (15-8), fast-break (16-5), rebounds (42-33), assists (15-7), and steals (9-7).

DSU also had the advantage in shooting, with the team shooting 43.6 % (24-55) and Coppin State shooting 31.0 %(18-58). The Hornets also outshot the Eagles at the three-point line in this game, as the team shot 50.0 %(7-14), and Coppin State shot 21.7 %(5-23).
