A minute and 25 seconds later, WilmU would score five straight points to tie the game at nine with 14:08 left in the first half. Amiri Stewart and Skip Burton would score all five points during that run.
Fast forward to the 12:02 minute mark, where Javel Cherry would cap off a 9-0 run by the Chargers as he hit a layup to give his team an 18-9 lead.
The Wildcats would respond by outscoring Dominican 27-11 to grab a 36-29 edge with 3:17 remaining in the opening half. Taalib Holloman, Stewart, and Burton were a hard trio to stop during this time, as they scored 17 of the team’s 27 points.
Wilmington would score four more points in the first half to head into halftime with a 40-31 advantage.
WilmU takes home a 99-95 victory!
The Wildcats’ lead would grow to 15 points (53-38) in the early minutes of the second half, as Taalib Holloman drained three straight free throw shots to get his team that edge.
After leading most of the second half by double-digits, Wilmington’s advantage would shrink to five points with five seconds left in the game.
WilmU would hang on to take a 99-95 victory over the Chargers.
