The University of Delaware baseball team earned a split on Friday with a 9-7 loss to the University of North Florida Ospreys in the first game but earned a 6-1 victory in the second. Let’s talk about the second game!
Game stats:
RBIs: Junior outfielder Aaron Graeber, Redshirt senior outfielder Jake Dunion, and senior Aidan Kane would lead the team with two RBIs.
Runs: Graeber, Dunion, Kane, redshirt senior infielder Joey Loynd, and sophomore infielder Aiden Stewart led the team in runs scored with one.
Hits: The University of Delaware had eight hits in the game Graeber, Dunion, led the team in hits in the win with two.
Pitching: On the pitching side, freshman Tyler August went four innings, gave up one hit, one run, one earned run, two walks, six strikeouts, hit one batter, and earned the win.
Redshirt junior pitcher Eli Atiya relived August, as he went three innings, gave up two hits, struck out one batter, and earned the save.

Blue Hens trail by one run after one inning.
After Delaware would have the lineup go down in order in the top of the first inning, North Florida would have a little more action in the bottom.
UD’s starting pitcher, Tyler August, was a little jittery coming out in the first inning, as he had hit a batter, two wild pitches that advanced a runner, and two walks.
The Ospreys would score in this inning off Cade Bush’s RBI sacrifice fly, which gave his team a 1-0 lead.
Delaware would tie the game at one in the second inning.
UD would answer back with a score of their own in the top of the second when Aaron Graeber opened up the inning with a solo home run to center field to tie the game at one.
The Hens’ starting pitcher, Tyler August, would rebound in the bottom of the second inning, only allowing one hit to go through and no runs.
Hens would take the lead in the third inning.
Brett Lesher would be the first batter up for Delaware in the first inning, and he would hit a single to center field to get on a base. Lesher would follow his hit-up by advancing to second on a throwing error by North Florida.
After Lesher, the Blue Hens batters would earn a walk, and the next two would fly out.
Then, Aaron Graeber would continue his big day with the bat by hitting a two-out RBI single to the right side to give his team a 2-1 edge.
UD would score four runs in the fifth to get a 6-1 win!
Two innings later, Delaware hitters would explode as they would score four runs on four hits in the fifth.
Five batters in and, with two outs in the inning, Jake Dunion would come with two runners on base and hit a two-RBI double to left center to extend the Hens advantage to 4-1.
Aidan Kane would walk up to the plate next and slam a two-run homer to right field to give his team a 6-1 edge.
Eli Atiya would come in for the Hens starting pitcher, Tyler August, in the bottom of the fifth, and he would only give up two hits for the rest of the game to seal a 6-1 victory for his team.
