Goldey-Beacom earns a spot in CACC tournament with 73-61 victory over Georgian Court

Goldey-Beacom trails by five at the end of the first half.

The game started with Georgian Court jumping out to a 13-7 lead with 13:14 remaining in the opening half.

In the next two minutes and 43 seconds, the Lightning would strike back by outscoring the Lions 9-3 to tie the game at 16 with 10:31 left in the first half.

Omari Banks and Zakari McQueen would have some highlights during the stretch, as the duo scored seven of the team’s nine points. 

Fast forward to the 2:09 minute mark, where GBC’s Damani Thomas would drain a three-point shot to tie the game at 31.

Sixty-seven seconds later, Georgian Court would respond by going on a 7-2 run to end the first half with a 38-33 edge.

The Lightning takes home a 73-61 victory!

Goldey would come out fast in the early minutes of the second half, as they outscored the Lions 18-12 to grab a 51-50 advantage with 10:43 left in the game.

Caleb Bates would be a hard man to stop during this time, as he scored 11 of the team’s 18 points. 

Starting at the 10:11 minute mark, GBC would pour on the points as they went on a 20-7 run to extend the lead to 71-57 with 1:54 remaining in the second half.

Nazim Derry would be on fire during this stretch, as he scored ten of the team’s 20 points.

The Lightning would score more points for the rest of the second half to seal a 73-61 victory over Georgian Court.
