The Goldey-Beacom College men’s basketball team clinched a spot in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament on Wednesday with a 73-61 victory over the Georgian Court University Lions.
Sophomore forward Caleb Bates would lead the team in scoring in the win with 21 points. He also recorded a double-double in the game, as he collected ten rebounds with his 21 points.
Three other Goldey-Beacom players who scored in double digits in the win were senior guard Nazim Derry (15), senior guard Damani Thomas (12), and sophomore forward Zayon Marsh (10).
The Lightning had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included points in the paint (34-22), points off of turnovers (18-12), second-chance points (14-10), fast-break points (6-5), bench points (9-0), rebounds (36-31), assists (13-9), turnovers (8-14), blocks (3-0), and steals (6-4).
Goldey-Beacom also had the advantage in shooting, with the team shooting 44.6%(25-56) and Georgian Court shooting 43.1%( 22-51). GBC also bested the Lions from the free-throw line, with the team shooting 71.4% (15-21) and Georgian Court shooting 61.5% (8-13).
