Marsh & Thomas combine for 45 points in Goldey-Beacom’s 83-78 win over Wilmington University

Goldey-Beacom trails by two points at the end of the first half.

The game started with Wilmington University jumping out to a 10-4 lead with 16:22 left in the opening half.

Fast forward to the 9:47 minute mark, where the Lightning’s Damani Thomas would drain a three-pointer to give his team an 18-17 edge.

At the 4:33 minute mark, Goldey’s advantage would grow to four when Thomas would have a layup go in to push the score to 34-30.

Seconds later, the Wildcats would go on a 10-4 run to end the first half with a 40-38 edge. 

The Lightning takes home an 83-78 victory!

Goldey-Beacom would strike fast in the early minutes of the second half, as the team outscored Wilmington 17-12 to take a 55-52 lead with 12:03 left in the game. 

Nazim Derry and Zayon Marsh would light up the scoreboard during this stretch, as the duo scored 12 of the team’s 17 points. 

Fast forward to the 7:18 minute mark, where WilmU’s Skip Burton would have a layup go to tie the game at 64.

Starting at the 6:41 minute mark, GBC would go on an 8-2 run to grab a 72-66 advantage with 4:43 remaining in the second half. 

Damani Thomas and Marsh would command the offense during that stretch, as they scored all eight of their team’s points.

Goldey would score 11 more points in the second half to seal an 83s-78 victory over the Wildcats.
