Blue Hens trail by ten points at the end of the first half.
The game started with Delaware taking a 17-7 lead with 13:52 left in the opening half. Gerald Drumgoole Jr. was in command of the offense during that run, as he scored ten of the team’s 17 points.
Seconds later, Stony Brook would answer back by going on a 16-6 run to tie the game at 23 with 5:29 remaining in the first half.
The SeaWolves would continue to pour on the points, as they would outscore the Hens 12-2 for the rest of the opening half to grab a 35-25 advantage at halftime.
UD takes home a 71-68 victory!
Delaware would come out in the early minutes of the second half ready to start a comeback, as the team outscored Stony Brook 13-6 to slice the deficit to three points (41-38) with 14:37 left in the game.
Jyáre Davis and Gerald Drumgoole Jr. were a hard duo for the SeaWolves to stop during that stretch, as they scored all of UD’s 13 points.
Fast forward to the 4:45 minute mark, where Niels Lane would drain a three-pointer to tie the game at 57.
In the next two minutes and 71 seconds, the game would be tied up three times before the Blue Hens would take the lead for good when Davis hit a jump shot to give his team a 66-64 edge with 1:20 remaining in the match.
The University of Delaware would score five more points for the rest of the second half to seal a 71-68 victory over Stony Brook.
