Wilmington University holds a one-point lead at the end of the first half.
The game started with Georgian Court taking a 5-2 lead with 18:18 left in the opening half.
WilmU would answer right back by going on a 9-3 run to grab an 11-8 edge with 16:15 remaining in the first half. Caleb Matthews would be on fire during this stretch, as he scored six of the team’s nine points.
Fast forward to the 6:20 minute mark, where the Lions’ Jahsan Johnson drained a three-pointer to give his team a 33-30 advantage.
Wilmington would charge right back by outscoring Georgian Court 9-2 to take a 39-35 lead with 2:32 edge left in the first half. Amiri Stewart contributed to both sides of the ball during this run, as he had one block, one assist, one steal, and scored two points.
Skip Burton also had two points and two steals during this stretch for the Wildcats.
Despite getting outscored 5-2 for the rest of the first half, the Cats would hold a one-point edge (41-40) at halftime.
WilmU takes home an 80-69 victory!
The Wildcats would come out with a renewed fire in the early minutes of the second half, as the team went on a 12-4 to push their lead to 53-44 with 15:39 left in the game.
Taalib Holloman and Amiri Stewart would be a hard duo for Georgian Court to stop during this stretch, as they scored all 12 points for WilmU.
Fast forward to the 7:02 minute mark, when Holloman would help expand Wilmington’s lead to 74-62 when he rocked the rim as his dunk went in.
WilmU would score six more points in the second half to seal an 80-69 victory over the Lions.
