Wilmington University holds a five-point lead at the end of the first half.
The game started with the Wildcats running off to a 5-2 lead with 17:53 left in the opening half. Amiri Stewart had a defensive rebound and made a layup on the run.
Fifty seconds later, the University of the District of Columbia would go on an 8-2 run to take a slim 10-7 edge with 14:03 remaining in the first half.
Wilmington would respond right back by outscoring the Firebirds 14-4 to grab a 21-14 advantage with 10:03 left in the first half. Nalik Veasley did a lot of work on that run, as he had two defensive rebounds, one assist, one block, and scored two points.
Fast forward to the 5:50 minute mark, where UDC’s Micah Campbell would make back-to-back free throw shots to cap off his team’s 14-5 run to give them a 28-26 lead.
WilmU would score 12 more points for the rest of the opening half to hold a five-point edge (40-35) at halftime.
WilmU takes home a 78-66 victory!
Fast forward to the 8:20 minute mark in the second half, where the Cats’ Caleb Matthews would drain a jump shot to put his team up by 12 points (59-47).
Wilmington would add 19 more points to their score for the rest of the second half to seal a 78-66 win over the University of the District of Columbia.
Nalik Veasley and Taalib Holloman had command of the offense during the stretch, as the duo scored 11 of the team’s 19 points.
