The Goldey-Beacom College men’s basketball team earned their ninth victory of the season on Saturday with an 88-83 victory over the Bloomfield College Bears.
Sophomore forward Caleb Bates led the team in scoring with 16 points.
Sophomore forward Zayon Marsh and senior guard Damani Thomas each recorded a double-double in the game, as Marsh had 12 points and 14 rebounds, and Thomas had 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Four other Goldey-Beacom players who scored in double digits in the win were senior guard Nazim Derry (13), senior guard Ayshion Centeno (14), senior guard Mekhi Collins (12), and freshman guard Zakari McQueen(10).
The Lightning had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included points in the paint (38-32), second-chance points (20-19), and rebounds (49-41).
Goldey-Beacom was also the better team at the free-throw line in this game, as the team shot 88.2%(15-17), and Bloomfield shot 42.9%(6-14).
