Chloe Wilson records a double-double as Blue Hens snap 5-game losing streak with win over Northeastern

Blue Hens lead by three points at the end of the first quarter.

These two teams came ready to battle in this matchup as in the first seven minutes, the lead would go back and forth and wouldn’t push past a three-point edge for either team. 

But at the back end of that stretch, UD’s Chloe Wilson would hit a layup to give her team a four-point advantage (10-6) with 2:58 left in the opening quarter.

The Blue Hens would score eight more points for the rest of the first quarter to hold an 18-15 lead.

During that stretch, Nakiyah Mays-Prince and Wilson would each drain a three-pointer for the University of Delaware.

UD would hold a two-point lead at the end of the first half.

Delaware would come out fast in the second quarter, as the team flew off to a 9-1 to grab a 27-16 edge with 7:50 remaining in the first half. Rebecca Demeke and Chloe Wilson scored seven of the team’s nine points.

Despite getting outscored 17-8 for the rest of the second quarter by Northeastern, the Hens would hold on to a 35-33 lead going into halftime.

The Hens end the third quarter with a five-point lead. 

Fast forward to the 3:54 minute mark in the third period, where UD’s Darrionna Howard would get a layup to go in to push her team’s advantage to eight points (50-42).

The Blue Hens would add seven more points to their total for the rest of the third quarter to take a 57-52 edge into the fourth.

The University of Delaware takes home an 86-73 win!

Fast forward to the 6:44 minute mark in the second half, where the Huskies would pull the deficit to two points (63-61) when Derin Erdogan drained a three-pointer. 

Delaware would punch back by dashing out to a 13-2 run to push their edge to 76-63 with 3:19 left in the game. Darrionna Howard contributed to both sides of the ball during this stretch, as she had three points and one block.

Sydney Boone also had some quick hands on defense during this time, as she had two steals.

UD would score ten more points for the rest of the fourth to seal an 86-73 victory over Northeastern. The Hens would drain ten shots from the free-throw line during this time.
