Blue Hens end the first half with a 16-point lead.
The game started with Delaware flying out to a 7-2 lead with 16:54 left in the opening half. Jyáre Davis and Niels Lane came out firing during this stretch, as the duo scored all seven points.
UD’s defense was also strong during this time, as the unit had three defensive rebounds and two steals.
Fast forward to the 11:56 minute mark, the University of Delaware would widen its advantage to 18 when Tyler Houser drained a three-pointer to bring the score to 24-6.
The Blue Hens would continue to pour on the points for the rest of the first half, as they added 17 more points to their total to take a 41-25 edge into halftime. Davis and Jalun Trent would command the offense during this stretch, as the duo scored 13 of the team’s 17 points.
UD takes home an 80-53 victory!
It might been a different half, but the Hens would continue to have no problem scoring, as they outscored Hampton 21-10 in the early minutes of the second to grab a 62-35 lead with 9:11 left in the game. Jyáre Davis and Jalun Trent would be a hard duo for the Pirates to stop during that run, as they scored 11 of the team’s 21 points.
The Blue Hens defense was also solid during this stretch, as the unit had three blocks and six defensive rebounds.
Fast forward to the 2:59 minute mark, where Gerald Drumgoole Jr. would make a three-pointer and then follow that up with a layup to give the University of Delaware a 78-46 advantage with less than 2:30 left in the second half.
UD would add two more points for the rest of the second half to seal a dominating 80-53 victory over Hampton.
