Zayon Marsh scores 25 points in Goldey-Beacom’s 79-74 win over Chestnut Hill

Goldey Beacom holds an eight-point lead at the end of the first half.

The game started with the Lightning running out to a 9-4 lead with 16:37 left in the opening half. Zayon Marsh and Ayshion Centeno would be on fire during this stretch as they scored all nine points.

Seconds later, Chestnut Hill would respond by going on a 10-5 run to tie the game at 14 with 12:30 remaining in the first half.

Goldey-Beacom wouldn’t take too long to punch back, as for the rest of the first half, the team would outscore the Griffins 20-12 to take a 34-26 edge. 

Zayon Marsh was in command of the offense during this stretch, scoring 13 of the team’s 20 points.

GBC also had quick hands on defense during this run, as they had six steals.

The Lightning takes home a 79-74 victory!

Fast forward to the 10:52 minute mark in the second half, where Chestnut Hill’s Donald Imo drained a three-pointer to cut the lead to two points (46-44).

Twelve seconds later, Goldey would strike back by going on a 16-6 run to grab a 62-50 advantage with 5:02 remaining in the game. 

Mekhi Collins, Damani Thomas, and Omari Banks would have the magic touch during this time, as the trio scored 12 of the team’s 16 points.

Despite getting outscored 24-17 by the Griffins in the last five minutes of the second half, the Lightning would hold on to take home a 79-74 victory.

Nazim Derry and Damani Thomas would score 11 of the team’s 17 points during that time.
