Robinson, Muniz,& Tavarez combine for 50 points in Delaware State’s 77-73 win over Mount St. Mary’s

Delaware State trails by eight points at the end of the first half.

The game started with the Hornets jumping out to a 5-2 lead with 18:56 left in the opening half.

DSU’s advantage wouldn’t last long, as 46 seconds later, Mount State Mary’s Dallas Hobbs would drain a three-pointer to tie the game at five.

Fast forward to the ten-minute mark, where Alston Andrews made a layup on the fastbreak to put Delaware State up by six points (22-16).

Starting at the 9:20 minute mark, the Mountaineers would answer back by outscoring Del State 25-11 to end the first half with a 41-33 edge.

DSU takes home a 77-73 victory!!

The Hornets would come out with a renewed fire in the early minutes of the second half, as the team would go on a 27-17 run to take a 60-58 advantage with 8:47 left in the game. Martaz Robinson and Jevin Muniz were in command of the offense during the stretch, as the duo scored 15 of the team’s 27 points.

Delaware State’s defense also stepped up during that time, as the unit had five defensive rebounds and four steals.

Four minutes and 43 seconds later, junior forward Wesley Oba would hit a layup to push the DSU’s lead to seven points (69-62) with 4:04 left in the game.

Starting at the 3:31 minute mark, Mount State Mary would fight back by going on an 8-2 run to slice the edge to one point (71-70) with 1:54 remaining in the second half.

The Hornets would outscore the Mountaineers 6-3 for the rest of the game to wrap up a 77-73 victory. Jevin Muniz would drain six free throw shots down the stretch to seal the win for his team.
