Goldey-Beacom holds a two-point lead at the end of the first half.
The Lightning would strike first in the game, as they would run out to a 7-3 lead with 18:09 left in the opening half. Zakari McQueen had command of the offense during that stretch, as he scored five of the team’s seven points.
Starting at the 17:31 minute mark, American International would respond back by going on a 10-2 run to grab a 13-9 edge with 12:15 remaining in the first half.
Fast forward to the 4:14 minute mark, where Caleb Bates would tip in the ball for the score to put Goldey-Beacom by six points (27-21).
Despite getting outscored 11-7 by the Yellow Jackets for the rest of the half, GBC would hold on to a two-point lead heading into halftime.

In the first seven minutes and 54 seconds of the second half, Goldey would push their advantage to nine points five times, which included at the 12:46 minute mark, where Caleb Bates would have a layup go in to give his team a 57-48 lead.
Five minutes and 31 seconds later, American International’s Carlos Hubb would get a layup to fall, which sliced their deficit to three points (65-62) with 7:15 left in the game.
The Yellow Jackets might have tightened the score, but Goldey-Beacom would never lose the lead as they would outscore American International 21-13 to seal an 86-75 victory.
Zayon Marsh, Damani Thomas, Nazim Derry, and Caleb Bates were a hard quartet to stop during that stretch, as they scored 19 of the team’s 21 points.
GBC’s defense was solid during that run, as the unit had three steals, one block, and two defensive rebounds.
