The Goldey-Beacom College men’s basketball team earned their sixth win of the season on Sunday with an 86-75 victory over the American International College Yellow Jackets. Head Coach TJ Dekmar hit a milestone in this game, as the win over the Yellow Jackets was his 100th victory.
Sophomore forward Zayon Marsh led the team in scoring in the win with 25 points.
Senior guard Damani Thomas recorded a double-double in the game, collecting ten rebounds with his 14 points.
Three other Goldey-Beacom players who scored in double digits in the win were senior guard Nazim Derry (14), sophomore forward Caleb Bates (14), and freshman guard Zakari McQueen(11).
The Lightning had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included points in the paint (58-36), points off of turnovers (23-12), second chance points (16-15), bench points (22-15), rebounds (40-31), turnovers (14-18), blocks (5-1), and steals (9-5).
Goldey-Beacom also had the advantage in shooting, with the team shooting 50.8%(33-65) and 4:15 shooting 45.2%(28-62). The Lightning was also the better team at the free-throw line in this game, as the team shot 73.9%(17-23), and the Yellow Jackets shot 64.7%(11-17).
