Jyáre Davis scores 26 points in Blue Hens 67-56 win over Rhode Island

The Blue Hens take a nine-point lead into halftime.

In the early minutes of the game, it was a battle between the two teams, as they were trading the lead back and forth until the 10:32 minute mark, where Rhode Island scored five straight points to take a 16-11 edge.

Nineteen seconds later, Delaware would answer back by outscoring the Rams 24-10 to grab a 35-26 advantage at the end of the first half.

Graduate Student guard Gerald Drumgoole Jr. and Jyáre Davis were on fire during that stretch, as the duo scored 17 of the team’s 24 points.

UD’s defense also stepped up during that run, as they had six defensive rebounds, four steals, and one block.

Delaware takes home a 67-56 victory!!!

Fast forward to the 14:43 minute mark in the second half, where Jyáre Davis would drain a three-pointer to push the Blue Hens lead to 14 points (44-30).

Seconds later, the Rams would roll off to outscore the University of Delaware 13-7 to slice the Hens edge to eight points (51-43) with 10:55 remaining in the game.

UD would rattle off 16 more points for the rest of the second half to seal a 67-56 victory.  

Davis, Jalun Trent, and fifth-year guard Christian Ray had the magic touch during that stretch, as the trio scored 14 of the team’s 16 points.
