Wilmington takes a 13-point lead into halftime.
The game started with WilmU running out to 8-0 lead with 17:24 remaining in the opening half. Amiri Stewart was in command of the offense during this stretch, as he scored five of the team’s eight points.
Fast forward to the 8:30 minute mark, where Taalib Holloman would drain a three-point shot to extend the Wildcats’ advantage to 22 points (35-13).
Starting at the 7:32 minute mark, Lock Haven would outscore Wilmington 22-13 to cut the deficit to 13 points (48-35) at the end of the first half.
WilmU takes home an 86-80 victory!
The Bald Eagles would continue to build on the momentum from the late minutes of the half in the next period, as they would go on a 23-14 run to slice the lead to four points (62-58) with 11:10 left in the game.
Almost a minute later, the Wildcats would strike back as they outscored Lock Haven 10-0 to extend their edge to 72-58 with 7:58 left in the second half. Nalik Veasley saw the basketball clear on this run, as he scored seven of the team’s ten points.
Fast forward to the 32-second mark, where the Bald Eagles Jalen Gorham would sink a layup to tighten the score to 84-80.
Wilmington would hang on to win 86-80, as Caleb Matthews sunk two free throws with 19 seconds left in the game.
