Delaware State leads by nine at the end of the first half.
The game started with Virginia-Lynchburg jumping out to a 7-2 lead with 18:47 left in the opening half. Jahmir Brown did a little everything during that run, as he scored two points, had a steal, and two assists.
Thirty-one seconds later, DSU would answer back by outscoring the Dragons 14-4 to take a 16-11 edge with 14:40 remaining in the first half. Jevin Muniz and Martaz Robinson would have the hot touch during that stretch, as the duo scored eight of the team’s 14 points.
Fast forward to the 3:47 minute mark, where Graduate student forward Kyle Johnson would rock the rim with a slam dunk basket to give Delaware State a ten-point advantage (39-29).
The Hornets add five more points to their lead in the first half to head into halftime with a 44-35 edge.
DSU takes home a 106-73 victory!!
Del State would strike fast in the early minutes of the second half, as the team went on a 14-5 run to extend their advantage to 58-40 with 14:43 left in the game. Deywilk Tavarez was in command during that time, as he scored seven of the team’s 14 points and had two steals and one defensive rebound.
Fast forward to the 6:27 minute mark, where Kyle Johnson would be rocking the rim once again with a slam dunk basket to give DSU a 19-point edge.
The Hornets would continue to pour on the points, as the team would add 25 to their score to seal a 106-73 victory!
