Wilmington Univeristy would lead by 18 points at the end of the first half.
The game started with WilmU jumping out to an 18-9 lead with 15 minutes left in the opening half. Graduate student Caleb Matthews and senior guard Amiri Stewart were on fire from downtown during this stretch, as they each made two three-pointers to score 12 of the team’s 18 points.
Fast forward to the 10:11 minute mark, where Kutztown’s Kameron Roberts would make a layup to slice the deficit to three points (26-23).
The Wildcats would not lose their lead, as the team responded with a 24-9 run to take a 50-32 advantage into halftime. The Bears had a hard time stopping Brycen Williams and Nalik Veasley during that time, as the two scored 15 of the team’s 24 points.
Wilmington’s defense was a key factor in the run, as they had five steals and five defensive rebounds.
The Wildcats would take home a 78-58 victory!
Fast forward to the 8:18 minute mark in the second half, where Taalib Holloman would sink a jump shot to push Wilmington’s lead to 22 points (67-45).
WilmU would wrap up the game by adding 11 more points to their score to seal a 78-58 victory over Kutztown.
