Nazim Derry reaches 1,000-point milestone in Goldey-Beacom’s 83-76 win over Lincoln (Pa.)

Goldey-Beacom ends with an 11-point lead at the end of the first half. 

The Lightning would come out fast to start the game, as the team took a 9-0 lead with 16:14 remaining in the first half. Sophomore guard Omari Banks and Zayon Marsh would take command on that run, as the two scored all nine of the team’s points.

Goldey-Beacom’s defense was solid during this stretch, as they had five defensive rebounds, three blocks, and two steals. 

Fast forward to the 11:34 minute mark, where Caleb Bates would drain back-to-back three-pointers to give GBC a 22-9 advantage.

Starting at the 9:00 minute mark, Lincoln would claw their way back into this game, as the team went on a 12-3 run to slice the deficit to four points (25-21) with 5:54 left in the opening period.

The Lightning would not let their lead slip away, as they outscored the Lions 11-4 for the rest of the first half to take a 36-25 edge into halftime. Marsh was getting the buckets to go in with ease during this time, as he scored six of the team’s 11 points.

The Lightning take home an 83-76 victory!

Fast forward to the 13-minute mark in the second half, where freshman guard Zakari McQueen would hit a three-pointer to push Goldey’s lead to 21 points (57-36).

Seconds later, Lincoln would start to fight back as they outscored Goldey-Beacom 40-23 to close the score to four points (80-76) with 39 seconds left in the game. 

GBC had a hard time stopping the Lions from downtown during the stretch, as they made six three-pointers.

Goldey-Beacom would hang on to win 83-76 by making three late free three shots at the end of the game.
