The Delaware State University women’s basketball team earned their second win of the season on Wednesday with a 108-39 victory over Division II’s Wilmington University Wildcats.
Senior guard Ja’Naiah Perkins-Jackson led the team in scoring in the win with 31 points.
Three other DSU players who scored in double-digits were sophomore guard/forward Savannah Brooks (20), graduate student guard Denijsha Wilson (17), and sophomore guard Deyonce Thompson (14).
Delaware State had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included bench points (32-7), fast-break points (28-2), points in the paint (46-8), second-chance points (26-4), points off of turnovers (44-12), turnovers (14-34), assists (24-13), rebounds (53-28), and steals (18-3).
The Hornets also had the advantage in shooting, with the team shooting 50.6% (40-79) and Wilmington University shooting 26.9% (14-52). Delaware State also bested the Wildcats from the three-point line, with the team shooting 46.9% (15-32) and Wilmington shooting 33.3%(9-27). The Hornets were also the better team at the free-throw line in this game, as the team shot 61.9%(13-21), and the Wildcats shot 40.0%(2-5).
