Blue Hens trail by three points at the end of the first half.
In the first five minutes of this game, neither team really had an edge as the lead bounced back and forth, and it would be a tight affair until the 14:56 minute mark, where Xavier would get some breathing room when Desmond Claude hit a three-pointer to give his team a five-point advantage (16-11).
Two minutes and 43 seconds later, the Musketeers would push their lead to ten (26-16) when Dailyn Swain drained a layup on the fastbreak.
Delaware would punch back by going on a 16-2 run, which gave the team a 32-28 edge with 6:59 left in the opening half. Cavan Reilly was hot from downtown during this stretch, as all nine of his points came from the three-point line(3-3).
Starting at the 6:15 minute mark, Xavier would outscore UD 13-6 to take a slim 41-38 lead into halftime.
UD takes home an 87-80 victory!
The Hens would come out flying in the early minutes of the second half, as they went on a 15-6 run to grab a 53-47 lead with 15:30 left in the game. Jalun Trent was the man who found the basket often during that stretch, as he scored eight of the team’s 15 points.
Fast forward to the 7:58 minute mark, where Cavan Reilly would continue to be successful from the three-point line, as he would drain another one to push the University of Delaware’s advantage to ten points (74-64).
The Blue Hens would add 13 more points to their score for the rest of the second half to seal an 87-80 upset victory over Xavier.
