Martaz Robinson scores 26 points in Delaware State’s 79-73 overtime win over Loyola Maryland

Delaware State holds a three-point lead at the end of the first quarter.

The game started with the Hornets jumping out to a 5-1 lead with 18:31 left in the opening half.

Fast forward to the 10:32 minute mark, where Loyola Maryland would take a three-point edge (20-17) when D’Angelo Stines made a jump shot.

Starting at the 8:40 minute mark, DSU would outscore the Greyhounds 20-14 to end the first half with a 37-34 advantage. Martaz Robinson and Graduate student forward Kyle Johnson were on fire during that run, as the duo scored 14 of the team’s 20 points.

The Greyhounds push the game into overtime.

Delaware State would strike fast in the early minutes of the second half, as the team went on a 4-0 run to push the lead to 41-34 with 19:05 left in the game.

Starting at the 17:17 minute mark, Loyola Maryland would fight back to outscore the Hornets 16-7 to grab a two-point edge (50-48) with 10:59 remaining in the game.

Twenty-two seconds later, DSU would sting back, as the team went on a 13-4 run to take a 61-54 advantage with 5:20 left in the second half. Martaz Robinson was the leading scorer during that stretch, as he had five of the team’s 13 points.

The Greyhounds might have been down, but they would not waive the white flag just yet, as the team outscored the Hornets 9-2, which included made layup from Golden Dike with 21 seconds left to send the game into overtime with the score tied at 63.

DSU took home a 79-73 overtime victory!!!

The Hornets would come out firing in the early minutes of the overtime period, as they outscored Loyola Maryland 11-4 to grab a 74-67 lead with 55 seconds left in the game.

DSU would add five more points to their total to seal a 79-73 overtime victory over the Greyhounds.

Nine of Delaware State’s 16 points in the overtime period came from the free-throw line.
