Delaware State leads by nine at the end of the first half.
The game started with the Hornets buzzing out with a 17-4 lead with 12:43 remaining in the opening half. Jevin Muniz was locked on the basket on the run, as he scored 15 of the team’s 17 points.
Twenty-one seconds later, Chicago State would answer back by outscoring DSU 24-10 to take a 28-27 lead with 3:30 left in the first half.
Delaware State would sting right back, as the team went a 12-4 run to finish the opening half with a 40-31 edge. Junior forward Wesley Oba and Martaz Robinson had the hot touch during this stretch, as the duo scored ten of the team’s 12 points.
The Hornets take home a 76-69 victory!
Fast forward to the 7:27 minute mark in the second half, where the Cougars Brent Davis would get a layup to go in to slice the deficit to five points (62-57).
DSU would halt Chicago’s State comeback attempt by going on a 9-0 run to push their advantage to 14 points (71-57) with 5:17 left in the game.
CSU would outscore the Hornets 12-5 for the rest of the second half, but Delaware State would hold on to take home a 76-69 victory.
