Wilmington University holds a two-point lead at the end of the first half.
The game started with the Wildcats jumping out to a 13-6 lead with 13:16 remaining in the opening half. Brycen Williams and Amiri Stewart each drained a three-pointer during that stretch.
Fast forward to the 3:22 minute mark, where Chestnut Hill’s Adam Angwafo would hit a three-point shot to tie the game at 33.
Wilmington would outscore the Griffins 7-5 for the rest of the first half to take a 40-38 advantage into halftime.
Wildcats take home a 76-69 victory!
Chestnut Hill would come out firing in the early minutes of the second half, as the team would go on a 9-4 run to take a 47-44 lead with 15:46 left in the game.
Starting at the 15:01 minute mark, WilmU would strike back by outscoring the Griffins 23-15 to grab a 67-62 edge with 3:07 remaining in the second half.
Taalib Holloman, sophomore forward Kaleb Hedgepeth, and junior center Nalik Veasley had the magic touch during this run, as the trio scored 13 of the Wildcats’ 23 points.
Wilmington’s defense also stepped up during this time, as they had seven defensive rebounds, six steals, and two blocks.
WilmU scored nine more points for the rest of the second half to seal a 76-69 victory over Chestnut Hill.
