Four Blue Hens score in double-digits in 68-58 win over American

Blue Hens trail by one point after one-quarter of play.

The two teams in this matchup came out battling in the early minutes of the opening quarter as they traded buckets back and forth, and no team had a higher lead than four points, which came from the Blue Hens when Klarke Sconiers hit a layup to give her team a 14-10 edge at the 2:23 minute mark.

The first quarter would end with Molly Lavin draining a three-point shot to give American a one-point advantage (17-16). 

Hens held a four-point lead at the end of the first half.

Fast forward to the 6:29 minute mark in the second quarter, Tara Cousins would hit a jump shot to give Delaware a 24-21 lead.

UD would score nine more points in the first half to take a 33-29 edge into halftime.

Delaware leads by 15 at the end of the third quarter. 

The University of Delaware came out firing in the third quarter as they outscored the Eagles 23-12 during that time to take a 56-41 advantage into the fourth.

Tara Cousins and Darrionna Howard found the basket with ease during this stretch as they scored 15 of the Blue Hens’ 23 points. 

UD takes home a 68-58 victory!

American would strike back in the early minutes of the fourth quarter, as the team went on a 15-4 run to cut the deficit to four points (60-56) with 4:04 left in the game.

Despite the Eagles’ solid efforts, the Hens would hold on to their lead by outscoring American 8-2 to seal a 68-58 victory.
