Four Blue Hens score in double-digits in 78-67 win over in-state rival Delaware State

Blue Hens lead by 16 at the end of the first half.

The game started with Delaware jumping out to an 11-3 lead with 13:08 remaining in the opening period. Christian Ray and Gerald Drumgoole Jr. saw the bucket clear on this run, as the duo scored seven of the team’s 11 points.

Starting at the 12:42 minute mark, UD would outscore the Hornets 28-16 to extend their advantage to 39-19 with 3:27 left in the first half. Tyler Houser and Jyáre Davis had the magic touch on the run, as the two scored 16 of the 28 points.

Delaware State would show some fire in the late minutes of the opening half as they outscored Delaware 9-5 to slice the lead to 44-28.

Delaware takes home a 78-67 victory!!

The Hornets came out of halftime with more pep in their step, as they would outscore the University of Delaware 23-15 to cut the deficit to eight points (59-51) with 8:25 left in the second half.

Three minutes and two seconds later, DSU’s Jevin Muniz would drain a three-point shot to trim the Hens advantage to four points (64-60) with 5:23 remaining in the game.

In the last five minutes of the game, UD would outscore the Hornets 14-7 to seal a 78-67 victory. Jyáre Davis had the hot hand during that stretch as he scored seven of the team’s 14 points.
