Blue Hens hold a five-point lead after one quarter of play.
The game started with Delaware jumping out a quick 9-2 lead over Longwood with 5:30 left in the opening quarter. Tara Cousins came out the gate on fire in this one, scoring five of the nine points on the run.
UD’s defense was also solid during that stretch, as they had six defensive rebounds and three steals.
For the rest of the first quarter, the Lancers would outscore the Hens 11-9, but the University of Delaware would have a five-point edge (18-13) heading into the second.
Hens would lead by 15 points at the end of the first half.
Delaware would start the second quarter by dashing off on an 8-3 run to push their edge to 26-16 with 5:17 remaining in the first half of the game. The team would make two shots from the three-point line during that stretch, which came from Sydney Boone and Tara Cousins.
For the rest of the second quarter, the Blue Hens would outscore Longwood 16-11 to end with a 42-27 advantage heading into halftime.
UD’s defense continued to play well during this stretch, as the crew had three steals and two defensive rebounds.
Delaware would lead by 22 points at the end of the third quarter.
The University of Delaware would remain hot in the early minutes of the second half, as the team went on a 10-4 run to expand their lead to 52-31 with 5:49 left in the third. Chloe Wilson and Klarke Sconiers would lead the team during that stretch, as the duo scored eight of the Hens’ ten points.
In the remaining minutes of the third quarter, the Blue Hens would add seven more points to their score to head into the fourth with a 52-37 edge.

Fast forward to the 5:43 minute mark in the fourth quarter, where Ande’a Cherisier would hit a layup to push Delaware’s lead to 22 points (70-48).
UD would continue to pour on the points in the rest of the final quarter, as the team would add 11 more to seal a dominating 81-55 victory over Longwood.
