The University of Delaware men’s basketball team earned their second win of the season on Wednesday by cruising to a 101-68 victory over Division II Goldey-Beacom College Lightning.
Junior guard Kobe Jerome led the Blue Hens in scoring with 18 points.
Six other Hens players who scored in double-digits were Graduate Student guard Gerald Drumgoole Jr. (12), fifth-year guard Jalun Trent(12), sophomore guard Cavan Reilly (11), senior guard Niels Lane (10), Fifth-year guard Christian Ray ( 15) and sophomore forward Tyler Houser (14).
Ray also recorded a double-double in the win, as he had 17 rebounds with his 15 points.
Delaware had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included points in the paint (58-36), second chance points (18-17), fast-break points (15-9), bench points (41-22), rebounds (49-37), assists (21-7), blocks (6-2), and steals (6-4).
UD also had the advantage in shooting, with the team shooting 58.1 % (43-74) and Goldey-Beacom shooting 32.9 %(25-76). The Blue Hens also bested the Lightning from the three-point line, with the team shooting 50 %(10-20) and Goldey-Beacom shooting 23.1 % (6-26). Delaware was also the better team at the free-throw line in this game, as the team shot 71.4 %(5-7), and the Lightning shot 70.6 % (12-17).
