Blue Hens would end the first half leading by 19 points.
In the first two minutes and 45 seconds of this game, it was close as the score was tied at six at that mark, but Delaware would catch fire after that by scoring ten straight points to take a 16-6 lead with 14:10 left in the first half. The trio of Cavan Reilly, Jyáre Davis, and Tyler Houser would score all ten points on the run.
Starting at the 13:26 minute mark, UD would outscore Bucknell 21-4 to extend their advantage to 37-15 with 5:18 remaining in the first half. Gerald Drumgoole Jr. and Davis had the hot hand on this run, as they scored 16 of the Hens’ 21 points.
The Bison would gain some steam in the late minutes of the opening half, as they outscored the Blue Hens 10-7 to slice the deficit to 19 points with a score of 44-25.
Delaware’s bench played a key part in why the team was leading by a wide margin in the first half, as they scored 15 of the Hens’ 44 points in the first half.
UD also cashed in when they rebounded a miss of their own, as the team had eight second-chance points in the opening half, and Bucknell had two.
Hens take home the 78-57 victory!
Fast forward to the 11:59-minute mark in the second half, where Jyáre Davis would drain a three-point shot to push the Blue Hens’ lead to 59-40.
For the remainder of the game, Delaware would continue to cruise as Cavan Reilly and senior guard Niels Lane would score ten of the team’s last 19 points of the final half to seal a 78-57 victory over Bucknell.
Second-chance points once again played a major part in the game, as UD had seven, and the Bison only had two.
