Wilmington University closes the regular season with a 3-0 win over Goldey-Beacom

The Wilmington University women’s soccer team earned their 11th win of the season on Tuesday with a 3-0 victory over the Goldey-Beacom College Lightning.

The standouts in the game for the Wildcats were junior forward Alyssa Ruggeri, junior forward Emilie Larsen, and junior goalkeeper Mio Nakajima.

Ruggeri had two shots, two shots at the goal, scored two goals, and had an assist in the win.

Larsen had one shot, one shot at the goal, and scored one goal in the game.

Nakajima allowed zero goals in 90 minutes and had three saves in the win.

Wilmington University would hold a one-goal lead after one half of play.

The defense for both teams was pretty tight to start the game as the scoreboard was silent for most of the opening half, but that would all change at the 44-minute mark, as WilmU’s Alyssa Ruggeri would find the back of the net to give her team a 1-0 lead.

WilmU adds two more goals in the second half to seal a 3-0 win!

The next score would happen 19 minutes into the second half, as Emilie Larsen would get her first goal of the day to push Wilmington’s edge to 2-0. Alyssa Ruggeri would assist on Larsen’s scoring play.

Eighteen minutes later, Ruggeri would score her eighth goal of the season off a free kick to seal a 3-0 victory for the Wildcats over the Lightning.
