Blue Hens extend winning streak to five with 47-3 win over Hampton

The University of Delaware’s football team earned their sixth win of the season on Saturday with a dominating 47-3 victory over the Hampton University Pirates.

The offensive standouts in the game for Delaware were senior quarterback Zach Marker, freshman quarterback Nick Minicucci, senior running back Marcus Yarns, Graduate student wide receiver Jourdan Townsend, Graduate student wide receiver Joshua Youngblood, and senior wide receiver James Collins.

Marker completed 17 of his 28 passes for 239 yards for one touchdown in the win. He also rushed for 37 yards on eight carries with one touchdown in the game.

In the victory, Minicucci completed four of his six passes for 51 yards for one touchdown.

Yarns rushed for 32 yards on five carries with two touchdowns in the win.

Townsend had three receptions for 88 yards in the game.

Youngblood had three receptions for 29 yards with one touchdown in the victory.

Collins had one reception for 27 yards with one touchdown in the win.

On the defensive side, senior linebacker Dillon Trainer was flying all over the field in the win, as he led the team in tackles with eight. The Blue Hens had one sack in the game, which came from sophomore defensive lineman Dominick Brogna (0.5) and junior defensive lineman James Yelbert Jr. (0.5). Graduate student defensive end Chase McGowan would also force a fumble in the victory.
