Goldey-Beacom earns first win of the season with 3-0 victory over Chestnut Hill

The Goldey-Beacom women’s soccer team earned the first win of the season on Tuesday with a 3-0 victory over the Chestnut Hill College Griffins.

The standouts in the game for the Lightning were freshman midfielder Miley Jones, senior midfielder Samantha Emmi, junior defender Alexa Pacheco, sophomore forward Mariah McQueen, and junior goalkeeper Alex Lowry.

Jones had one shot, one shot at the goal, and had one assist in the win.

Emmi had one shot and had one assist in the game.

Pacheco had two shots, two shots at the goal, and scored two goals in the victory.

McQueen had two shots, two shots at the goal, and scored one goal in the win.

Lowry allowed zero goals in 90 minutes and had eight saves in the win.

Goldey-Beacom would lead by one goal at the end of the first half.

In the first ten minutes of this match, Chestnut Hill would get two shots off at the goal, but the Lightning’s goalkeeper, Alex Lowry, would stop the ball from finding the back of the net for a score.

At the 17th-minute mark, Goldey-Beacom would make the most of their first chance to score, as Alexa Pacheco blasted the ball into the net to give her team a 1-0 lead. Samantha Emmi would assist on Pacheco’s scoring play.

Despite getting outshot by the Griffins 10-1 in the first half, Goldey-Beacom would go into halftime with a 1-0 edge.

The Lightning would add two more goals in the second half to seal a 3-0 victory!

Fast forward to the 50th-minute mark in the second half, where Alexa Pacheco would score her second goal of the night to push Goldey’s advantage to 2-0.

Thirty-one minutes later, Mariah McQueen would find the back on the net to seal the 3-0 victory over Chestnut Hill. Miley Jones assisted on McQueen’s scoring play.
