Blue Hens crush Saint Francis (PA.) 42-14 in home opener

The University of Delaware’s football team picked up their second win of the season on Saturday, as the team made easy work of Saint Francis University Red Flash in their home opener with a 42-14 victory.

The offensive standouts in the game for Delaware were junior quarterback Ryan O’Connor, senior running back Marcus Yarns, sophomore running back Jo’Nathan Silver, Graduate student wide receiver Joshua Youngblood, and Graduate student wide receiver Kym Wimberly.

O’Connor completed 13 of his 24 passes for 192 yards with three passing touchdowns in the win.

Yarns ran for 139 yards on 12 carries with one rushing touchdown in the game. He also had two receptions for six yards with one touchdown.

Silver ran for two yards on two carries with one rushing touchdown in the win.

Youngblood had two receptions for 63 yards with one touchdown in the game.

Wimberly had one reception for 48 yards with one touchdown in the win.

On the defensive side, Freshman defensive back KT Seay led the team in tackles with seven in the win. The Blue Hens were aggressive on defense all day, as the team had three sacks, two forced fumbles, and two interceptions in the game. Senior defensive back Christian Pierce, senior defensive lineman Jack Hall, and Graduate student defensive end Chase McGowan each recorded one of the three sacks. Pierce and Hall also each forced a fumble in the game. Seay and senior linebacker Dillon Trainer each recorded an interception in the win. Trainer also returned his interception for a touchdown in the game. Junior defensive back Ty Davis also recovered a fumble in the victory.
