Blue Hens lead by three points after one-quarter of play
The first half of this game was mainly all defense as the two team’s offenses struggled to get any consistency flowing for them. In the first quarter, Delaware would hold a 14-11 lead after one-quarter of play. Jasmine Dickey and Ty Battle would score 12 of the Hens’ first quarter points. Rebounding was one of the reasons, the University of Delaware held the lead as the team collected 15 rebounds. The team’s defensive play was the other reason they held the lead, as the Blue Hens had three blocks and two steals in the first quarter.
Hens hold a four-point lead after one half of play
In the second half, the scoring was even colder than in the first, as the two teams combined for 15 points in the second quarter. The University of Delaware would hold a four-point lead (22-18) at the end of the first half. Jasmine Dickey would score all eight points in the second quarter for Delaware. Rebounding was a huge factor in why the Blue Hens held on to the lead as the team collected 12 rebounds. On the defensive side of the ball, the team had two block shots and one steal.
Delaware leads by nine after three-quarters of play
The University of Delaware would start the second half by outscoring William & Mary 9-5 to take a 31-23 lead with 1:48 left in the third quarter. Ty Battle would score seven of the nine points on the run. Rebounding continued to be a strength for the Hens as the team had 13 rebounds during the 9-5 run. The team had four steals during that time as well.
As the minutes ticked down in the third quarter, Delaware would outscore the tribe 4-3 to take a 35-26 lead.
Blue Hens win 61-35!
The University of Delaware would come out at a blazing pace as the team scored eight straight points to take a 17 point lead (43-26) with 7:15 left to play in the game. Jasmine Dickey scored five of the eight points on the run. The team also had three steals on the run.
Fifty-eight seconds later, the Blue Hens would deal the knockout punch to the Tribe as the team went on an 18-9 run to seal a 61-35 win. Sophomore guard Tyi Skinner and Dickey would score 12 of the 18 points on the run. Jasmine Dickey also had two steals and one rebound on the run.
