CACC Tourney 1st round: Bohmann, Simpson & Pelcak combine for 7 RBIs in Goldey-Beacom’s 10-2 win over Georgian Court

The Goldey-Beacom College softball is heading to the double-elimination portion of the CACC Tournament thanks to a 10-2 victory over Georgian Court University Lions on Saturday. The team will host Bridgeport in the first game on May 2nd.

Game Recap:

Goldey-Beacom takes a three-run lead at the end of the second inning.

The Lightning would strike first in the first-round game of the CACC tournament as junior infielder Bryn Bohmann hit a two-run double down the left field line to give her team a 2-0 edge in the bottom of the opening inning.

GBC would add another run to their lead in the bottom of the second, as Freshman shortstop McKenna Frank slapped a single to left field to push the team’s advantage to 3-0.

The Lightning holds a five-run lead at the end of the third inning.

Georgian Court would finally light up the scoreboard in the top of the third inning, as Brittany Gable smoked a solo home run to left field to take the score to 3-1.

Goldey-Beacom would answer back in the bottom of the inning, as the team scored three runs on four hits to give them a 6-1 lead.

Sophomore infielder Autumn Simpson would get the scoring started in the inning as she knocked an RBI single up the middle to give her team a 4-1 edge.

Three batters later, sophomore infielder Rayna Pelcak hit a two-run single up the middle to extend the team’s advantage to 6-1.

Goldey-Beacom takes home a 10-2 win!

The Lightning would continue to widen their lead in the fourth inning, as the team scored four runs on four hits to take the score to 10-1.

Sophomore infielder Morgan Scott and Junior outfielder Bri Snover each recorded an RBI double in the inning.

Autumn Simpson would record her third RBI of the game in the fourth, as she slapped a two-run single through the left side of the field to give her team a 10-1 lead.

The Lions would score one more run in the top of the fifth, but it wouldn’t matter, as GBC would still take home a 10-2 victory.

Pitching Recap:

Senior starting pitcher Abigail O’Shields dominated the Georgian Court hitters in this CACC tourney game, as she went five innings, gave up two hits, two runs, two earned runs, and struck out two batters in a victory.
