The Wilmington University softball team earned a split versus Jefferson on Tuesday with a 9-2 loss in the first game and a 6-0 win in the second match.

Wilmington University takes home a 6-0 win!

It started all in the top of the third inning, when WilmU scored two runs on three hits and one error to take a 2-0 edge.

Freshman outfielder Caroline Scott started the scoring in the inning by slapping a RBI triple to right-center.

In the fourth inning, the Wildcats would add another run with a fielding error by Jefferson’s first baseman, which put the score at 3-0.

WilmU would put the game out of reach at the top of the fifth inning, where they scored three runs on four hits, and one stole base to extend their edge to 6-0.

Freshman Utility player Mia Keenan would get things rolling in the inning when she brought a runner home with an RBI bunt.

Two plays later, senior outfielder Alexa Eisemann would get a run home with a SAC Bunt to make it 4-0.

The next play, Wilmington added a run on a ground out, and then junior infielder Kylie Saienni closed the scoring in the inning with an RBI single to right center to give their team a 6-0 advantage.

Pitching Recap:

Sophomore pitcher Karen Sickle earned the win, as she pitched six innings, gave up four hits, four walks, and struck out one.
