Season Review: Wilmington University’s Tre Hawkins

Our 2025-2026  season player review series continues with the Wilmington University men’s basketball team, as the spotlight turns to sophomore forward Tre Hawkins.

Hawkins led the team in scoring this season with 15.9 points per game.

The Waldorf, Maryland native was the one the Wildcats looked to when they needed a bucket, as he recorded double-digits in 23 games this year. He also posted seven games in which he scored 20 points, and one game in which he scored 30 points.

That 30-point game was a season high for Hawkins, which came in an 86-83 win over Dominican (N.Y.) on January 3. He made 11 of 16 shots, drained both of his two attempts from the three-point line, and sank six of seven free throw shots in that victory.

Scoring isn’t the sophomore’s only skill, as he led the team in rebounding this season with 8.3 per game. Hawkins recorded ten games this year, collecting ten or more rebounds. In nine of those, he recorded a double-double.

The Wilmington University forward’s season-high in rebounds came on December 6th versus Felician, collecting 18 rebounds.

Hawkins also knew how to share the rock and find his teammates in the best spot for the score, as he was tied third on the team in assists per game with 1.6. The Maryland native netted 12 games, where he dished out two or more assists.

The opposing players did not want to see Hawkins pull up right near them as they were pulling up for a shot this season, as he was third on the team in blocks with 0.4 per game. The Wildcats forward recorded five games, during which he had two blocks.

Hawkins averaged 15.9 points per game, 8.3 rebounds, 1.6  assists, and 0.4 blocks in 27 games this season.
