Our 2025-2026  season player review series continues with the Wilmington University men’s basketball team, as the spotlight turns to junior guard Akeem Taylor.

Taylor was fifth on the team in scoring this year, with 11.1 points per game.

The Pennsylvania native definitely made an impact on the game with his scoring, posting double-digits in 15 games this season. He had two games this year where he scored 20 points.

Taylor scored a season-high 21 points twice this season, the first time came on November 21st in a 101-99 win over Millersville. He made nine of his 17 shots, drained one of his two shots from the three-point line, and hit both of his two free throws in the game.

He scored 21 points again on January 17th versus Post, where he made seven of his 11 shots, drained one of his three shots from the three-point line, and hit six of his eight free throws.

The WilmU junior guard was locked on the boards all season, as he was second on the team in rebounds with five per game. He had 24 games this year, in which he collected two or more rebounds. Taylor recorded a season-high eight rebounds in two games this season.

The Chester native also knew how to get his teammates a bucket, as he was tied third on the team in assists per game, with 1.6. He recorded ten games where he dished out two or more assists. Taylor had a season-high of four assists in two games this year.

On defense, the WilmU guard had slick moves to get the ball for his team, as he was second on the team in steals with 1.8 per game. He had 12 games where he swiped two or more steals this season. Taylor had a season-high of five assists in the December 6th game versus Felician.

Opposing players did not want him guarding them as they took a shot, as he led the team in blocked shots with one per game. He had six games in the season where he had two or more blocks. Taylor had a season-high of four blocks in the December 9th 98-76 win over Goldey-Beacom.

Taylor averaged 11.1 points per game, five rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.8 steals, and one block in 24 games.
