The Wilmington University baseball team swept the Jefferson University Rams on Thursday by winning the first game 7-6 and the second 7-4.

Game Recap GM1:
All tied at four runs at the end of the second inning.
Jefferson was the first to light up the scoreboard as they scored four runs on three hits and two errors to take a 4-0 edge in the bottom of the opening inning.
WilmU would punch back in the top of the second, scoring four runs on four hits, one stolen base, and one error to tie the game.
Junior catcher Brett Walmsley started the scoring when he was pushed home when Junior shortstop/pitcher Garrett Quinn grounded out to second base.
On the next play, Sophomore pitcher/outfielder Zach Frame would score on a throwing error from the Rams catcher.
Senior infielder Tyler Pirrung came up to the plate next and hit an RBI single, which put the score at 4-3.
Junior infielder/pitcher Chase Fleming would wrap up the scoring in the inning by knocking a RBI single to right field to tie the game at 4.
Wilmington University takes home a 7-6 win!
Fast forward to the seventh inning, where the Cats pushed in a run when Junior shortstop Justin Hernandez earned a bases-loaded walk. On the very next play, Brett Walmsley would score on a pitch, and Garrett Quin earned another RBI on a groundout, which gave the team a 7-4 lead.
Jefferson scored two runs in the eighth inning, but the Wildcats hung on to win 7-6.
Pitching Recap:
Junior pitcher Xavier Cortez earned the win by pitching six innings, giving up four hits, four runs, three earned runs, three walks, and three strikeouts.
Senior pitcher Scott Borgmann earned the save by pitching three innings, giving up five hits, two runs, two earned runs, one walk, and striking out four batters.

Wilmington takes home a 7-4 win!
The Wildcats started the second game off with a bang as Tyler Pirrung and Chase Fleming both hit solo homers in the top of the first inning to give their team a 2-0 advantage.
Jefferson would cut into the lead in the bottom of the second inning, with a RBI triple down the left field line to put the score at 2-1.
WilmU extended its advantage in the third inning by scoring four runs on five hits and one error to take a 6-1 edge.
Cam Trego started it all by scoring on an error by the Rams catcher.
Three plays later, two baserunners would score on sophomore catcher/designated hitter Jordan Santiago‘s double to right center to expand the lead to 5-1.
Zach Frame would also push home a run with a double, which gave the Cats a 6-1 edge.
Frame was back at it in the fifth inning, slapping an RBI single through the left side to push the score to 7-1 for WilmU.
In the bottom of the fifth, Jefferson had a solo home run, which pulled the deficit to five runs (7-2).
The Rams scored two more runs in the sixth with a two-run double, but the Cats would still take home a 7-4 win.
Pitching Recap:
Freshman pitcher/outfielder Dylan Potero earned the win by going 4.2 innings, two hits, two runs, one earned run, four walks, striking out four, and one home run.
Garrett Quinn earned the save by pitching 1.1 innings and striking out two batters.
