Wilmington University earns a split with a 3-1 Game one win versus Goldey-Beacom

The Wilmington University softball team earned a split versus Goldey-Beacom on Wednesday with a 3-1  win in the first game and a 3-0 loss in the second match.

Game Recap:

Wilmington University takes home a 3-1 win!

The Lightning would score first in this game with  Ayri Hansen smacking a RBI double to left center, putting her team up 1-0.

Junior infielder Brianna Greenlaw tied the game up at one in the 4th inning with a SAC Fly.

Sophomore pitcher/outfielder   Maddie Vollmar gave the Cats the lead in the sixth inning with an RBI single to center field to  put the score at 2-1.

In the seventh inning, sophomore third baseman  Haley Grygo extended WilmU’s advantage to 3-1, with a RBI double to center.

Pitching Recap:

Maddie Vollmar earned the win by pitching 5.1 innings, giving up one hit, one run, two walks, and two strikeouts.

Sophomore pitcher/infielder Olivia Hitchens earned the save by pitching 1.2 innings, giving up two walks, and striking out three.
