The Goldey-Beacom College baseball team earned its 18th win of the season on Sunday with a 13-1 win over the University of Bridgeport Purple Knights.

The Lightning leads by five runs at the end of the fifth inning.
After four innings of silence on the scoreboard, Sophomore outfielder/pitcher Roman Keith would get Goldey-Beacom to score the first run of the game with a RBI Sac Fly to give his team a 1-0 edge.
In the bottom of the fifth, the offense really started to spark as they scored four runs on four hits to push their advantage to 5-0.
Sophomore infielder Jaime Neris Jr. started the scoring in the inning by slapping a two-run single up the middle.
Four plays later, Sophomore catcher/infielder Jake Macey hit an RBI single to right field.
Roman Keith would come up to the plate next and hit an RBI double down the left line.
Goldey-Beacom takes home a 13-1 win!
The Lightning would not slow down in the bottom of the sixth, as the team scored eight runs on four hits and one error to take a 13-0 lead.
The highlights in the inning were sophomore infielders Brent Williams and Zach Smethers each hitting a two-run home run. Also, senior catcher Joey Current smoked a three-run double down the left field line.
Bridgeport scored their first run of the game in the top of the seventh, but GBC would still take home a 13-1 win.

Goldey-Beacom used three pitchers in the game, including sophomore pitcher Zach Davis, who went 4.2 innings, walked seven, and struck out two batters.
